The goal of the class is to familiarize students with the 49 CFR 393 Basic Cargo Securement requirements for Commercial Motor Vehicles. Students will develop an understanding of general applications and specific requirements for light/heavy machinery.

Inspection of Cargo Requirements
General Securement Regulations
• Prevention of Loss of Load
• Prevention of Shift of Load
Securement Device Standards
Aggregate Working Load Limit (WLL) for Tie downs
Specific Securement Requirements by Commodity Type
Tie down Defects
All motor carriers operating in intrastate or interstate commerce, hauling any article of cargo, are required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to complete two hours of Cargo Securement training.
